The Programs, Board, and Committee Work of Kiwanis

The men and women of the Kiwanis Club of Jackson are dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.  Our primary focus for service projects is helping children.  Our primary service area is the city of Jackson, Missouri and the surrounding community.   To accomplish a variety of club projects throughout the year, club members meet for a one hour luncheon meeting (11:30 am to 12:30 pm) on the second and fourth Thursdays at Delmonico's Steak House, 2951 Old Orchard Rd in Jackson to LEARN, to SERVE and to DO.

Each month, members LEARN from one another through networking and from others through program offerings.  Members SERVE as a board for the club, and they DO committee work.

Our members LEARN from one another and from guest speakers.  Our club's program meetings are designed with three purposes, networking, community assessment, and membership development.  Each year some programs are planned so that club members and guests can network with other community leaders and organizations.  Some programs are planned intentionally to help the club members identify community needs and community resources.   Other program meetings are planned to provide club members and guests the opportunity for membership development and to receive leadership training.  Program meetings are generally the 4th Thursday of each month.

Secondly, our members SERVE their club.  Presently each member has the opportunity and responsibility of serving on the Board of Directors.  The role of the Board is the general management of the club which includes setting and monitoring club goals, approving club projects, setting and maintaining the club's calendar, adopting and administering the club's budget, approving members, paying the bills, etc.  Members meet as a board on the 2nd Thursday of each month.

Finally, our members DO.  In a variety of ways, throughout the year, members work individually and collectively, to plan events and projects that raise funds and that offer service to children and to the community.
